OUR NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY
Ronald mcdonald house charities
What is rmhc? Most families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. The Ronald McDonald house is a "home-away-from-home" for families so that they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost. RMHC families never have to worry about where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night. It is the belief of RMHC that when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine.
Alpha Delta Pi has been committed to serving RMHC since 1979 and has raised more than $18 million dollars to this meaningful cause over the course of our partnership. |
texas alpha delta pi & rmhcThe Delta chapter is incredibly lucky to be located only 10 minutes away from the Central Texas RMHC chapter. This gives us the special opportunity to help local families by volunteering hands-on. We are able to purchase groceries and cook meals for RMHC residents, bake sweet treats on the weekends, help to decorate the RMHC facility for holidays, and volunteer at RMHC-sponsored fundraising events.
Our hands-on involvement brings this cause even closer to our hearts each semester! |
How we support rmhc
Cooking at RMHCTwice a week, we visit the Central Texas RMHC chapter (only 10 minutes away from our house!) to cook for the families staying there. As a chapter we pick a meal that would be fun to cook, donate the ingredients to RMHC, and then show up to cook. We are so grateful that we have a RMHC location so close to us and cherish our special opportunity to volunteer hands on!

diamond dashThis semester we had our very first Diamond Dash! We raced through the UT campus to raise money for RMHC. Following the race we had a reception at Littlefield Fountain with a DJ, delicious breakfast bagels and a silent auction, which included rare Colt McCoy football memorabilia. The race took place over Dad's Weekend, so we were so happy all the ADPi dads could help give back to our philanthropy!

pi-hopEvery semester we invite the Greek and UT community to our house for a late-night all you can eat breakfast buffet of pancakes, sausage, and all the toppings! This fall we hosted a "disco" themed Pi-Hop and even had a silent disco at the house! Through our ticket sales and silent action, we were able to raise $11,830 for RMHC through this event alone!
